sandra fedowitz plays drums

I love playing drums. I sit behind a drum kit since 2017 and I enjoy every second of it to the fullest. I am the drummer of Ceremony East Coast, a two-piece band together with my partner John. Since early 2021 I have been also touring with A Place to Bury Strangers. Come see us play live! It’s a wild ride and a lot of fun!

No one to impress, nowhere else to be, simply move to the beat

I feel drawn towards beats, rhythm and the sound of drums since my childhood. I remember my dad returning from a work trip to Brazil bringing home 2 cassette tapes with live street carnival recordings. I was captivated by the fact that a beat can make you want to dance – which I did for a long time, mainly jazz and modern. Even though I am bound to the drum kit, I still feel like dancing. I want to move to a rhythm and there is nothing more satisfying and exciting than watching people dance to a beat. Me playing drums is my invitation to you to drop your caution and your overthinking and instead move in the moment. Interoception and proprioception stripped to the core. No showing off, no one to impress, just you and me and the beat. For me, drums are a reminder of trusting the process, letting go and to be fully human. That simple.
